Vaughn Vandegrift and his family have been residents of the Kirkwood section of Voorhees Township all of their lives.
Vandegrift has been involved in firefighting ever since he was 16 years old, which was old enough to be a member in the Kirkwood fire company. When the four Voorhees Township companies consolidated into the Voorhees Fire District, Vandegrift stayed on as a career fire fighter not just protecting Kirkwood, but the entire Voorhees Township.
Fire fighting is not an easy job. Vandegrift has trained very hard to do his job well. Each fire is different in nature and you must be ready for the unexpected.
Although Vandegrift is retired from the Voorhees Fire District he still is involved with the township of Voorhees.
I know that Vandergrift will make the right decisions as a fire commissioner to benefit the Voorhees Township residents.
On Saturday, Feb. 16, from 2 to 9 p.m. at your local fire stations and the Ashland Presbyterian Church.
