The Moorestown DeCafe welcomes Mason Porter on Friday, Jan. 18.
Combining lush harmonies with hand-clapping sing-alongs and the unfiltered emotion of a hungry young rock band, Mason Porter blends folk, rock, blues and bluegrass with creative songwriting and constant experimentation.
Since the 2008 release of their self-titled EP, the band has steadily made a name for themselves, sharing the stage with many nationally recognized acts including the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Enter the Haggis, Carrie Rodriguez, and Hoots & Hellmouth. Their performance at the 2010 Philadelphia Folk Festival was followed with great reviews.
The core of the band features Tim Celfo on upright bass, Joe D’Amico on mandolin, and Paul Wilkinson on guitar, and often features drums, dobro and harmonica as well.
DeCafe provides a warm coffeehouse environment for great music in an intimate setting surrounded by art. Perkins Center for the Arts, located at 395 Kings Highway.
Doors open 7:30 p.m. The concert starts at 8:15 pm. $20 includes coffee, tea and treats. For tickets, call 235–6488 or visit www.perkinscenter.org.
