Maureen Barrett, a teacher at Harrington Middle School in Mt. Laurel has been awarded a scholarship by the Association of American Educators Foundation to supplement the cost of attending the 2012 Ocean Literacy Summit at the University of Rhode Island.
“The three-day conference not only includes guest speakers, concurrent sessions, and discovery opportunities, but it will also help bridge the gap between scientists and educators,” said Barrett, a seventh-grade technology, science, and math teacher.
AAEF is committed to offering individual educators various avenues for improving effectiveness in the classroom.
“AAEF commends the dedication that Ms. Barrett has demonstrated in continuing her education through this conference,” said AAEF Chairman Gary Beckner. “These scholarships and grants are an investment in empowering teachers as professionals across the country.”
