Cherokee senior signs letter of intent
Cherokee High School senior Lauren Thomas signed the National Letter of Intent to play DI women’s lacrosse for Coastal Carolina University.
Thomas started for the Varsity Lady Chiefs lacrosse team since sophomore year.
As a multi-sport athlete, she has also earned four varsity field hockey letters and most recently served as captain of the 2012 Lady Chiefs Field Hockey team.
Thomas is a Cherokee Scholar Athlete and has earned multiple Olympic Conference honors in both lacrosse and field hockey for the New Jersey South Group IV School. She has also been a member of the South Jersey Select club lacrosse program for the past seven years, and was a significant contributor to help her 2013 SJS Pink team win the 2009 Lax for the Cure and 2012 Northern Rise tournaments.
Thomas is an active member of US Lacrosse as a certified Youth Umpire with the New Jersey West Chapter. Other honors include Brine National All-American Lacrosse Team-New Jersey and deBeer Philly Showcase Fab 40 All-Star. Thomas has been a dedicated volunteer coach for Marlton Recreation Council supporting both the girls lacrosse and field hockey programs, she also volunteers her time coaching and developing summer lacrosse programs that expose Philadelphia inner city girls to lacrosse through Filly Lacrosse and Mantua-In-Action.
Thomas will be pursuing a degree in exercise and sports science.
