On Oct. 15, the Evesham Police Department investigated a theft scam involving two unknown males who targeted an elderly male in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 150 E. Rt. 70.
The investigation determined that a black male approached the 84-year-old victim in the lot of the Walmart store. The male advised the victim that he was stranded and needed a ride to a local supermarket, the elderly male agreed to give the male a ride. When they arrived at the supermarket, a second unknown black male entered the victim’s vehicle. Once the two males were inside the victim’s vehicle, they worked together to convince the elderly male to drive them to his bank. The elderly victim agreed and drove the two suspects to the TD Bank located at 225 Greentree Rd.
At the bank, the suspects prayed on victim’s trust and convinced him to withdraw $2,800 from his savings account. The victim withdrew the money and gave it to the suspects, who promised to return the money in 30 minutes. After the suspects never returned the victim contacted police.
The suspects are described as two black males both in theirs 40’s or 50’s, one of the males was described as heavy set. The male in the Walmart store entered a silver minivan, unknown make, model, or registration.
