Health department to show movie to help with preparedness
The Burlington County Health Department, in partnership with the Burlington Center Mall, will show the movie Contagion (PG-13) on Friday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., doors for the event will open at 6:30 p.m, as a part of their National Preparedness Month Activities.
The movie will be shown in store 131, across from Auntie Annie’s Pretzels. After the movie, there will be a discussion on what it means to be prepared including, determining hazards you could face, writing a plan, three ways to get warnings, and contact info. There will also be a speaker from the New Jersey Medical Reserve Corps. Additional response agencies from the county will be on hand to disseminate information. Refreshments and treats will be served.
“We want to make sure that the public is aware of what to do and how to prepare for when or if a disaster strikes,” said Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien. ”National Preparedness Month serves as a good reminder that we all have a responsibility in protecting ourselves, our families and our communities.”
September is National Preparedness Month, which is a nationwide effort co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the American Red Cross to encourage individuals to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, and schools.
