Resident joins Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice staff

Sara Pagliaro, DO of Moorestown has joined Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice as a hospice physician, announced Samaritan President/CEO Mary Ann Boccolini.

Dr. Pagliaro, Samaritan’s fourth full-time hospice and palliative physician, joins a staff of more than 300.

“Dr. Pagliaro is a most welcome addition to Samaritan’s team of palliative care experts whose goal is to prevent suffering and support the best possible quality of life for patients and their caregivers,” Boccolini said.

In addition to providing direct patient care, Dr. Pagliaro will oversee clinical interdisciplinary teams and serve as a liaison between Samaritan and the medical community, collaborating with patients’ personal physicians to provide comprehensive, coordinated care.

Pagliaro, certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians, received her Doctorate of osteopathy from the University of Medicine & Dentistry — School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. She’s currently an assistant professor in the University of Medicine’s Department of family medicine, an attending physician at Kennedy Memorial Hospital — Stratford and the Medical Director of the Department of family medicine at University Doctors in Sewell.

Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice ─ a not-for-profit, non-sectarian organization ─ is the regional leader for palliative medicine, hospice care, geriatric care management, grief support and counseling and end-of-life education and advocacy. These Samaritan programs provide a range of services available throughout the course of an illness and beyond. Samaritan provides care for people in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Mercer counties who are coping with elder care issues, serious illness, and/or grief. Generous community support last year funded $1.25 million in essential, yet non-reimbursed, services over-and-above Samaritan services covered by Medicare, Medicaid, VA and commercial insurers.
