The following reports are on record with the Medford Police Department:
The Medford Township Police Criminal Investigations Bureau investigated 23 motor vehicle burglaries, which occurred in the township between June 18 and July 12. Various items were stolen from the vehicles including money and electronics valued at $3,122.
On July 19, Medford Police received information from the Evesham police regarding several subjects who were identified as being involved in car burglaries. Over the next several weeks, Medford police detectives located and interviewed the subjects which resulted in four adults and one juvenile being charged. Medford Police also recovered a badge stolen from a vehicle in Westampton as well as numerous electronics, which were stolen from vehicles in Medford.
One of the adult males, from Pemberton, was charged with six counts of burglary, six counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and three counts of theft. A 20-year-old male from Marlton was charged with 23 counts of burglary, 23 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and 16 counts of theft. An additional 20-year-old from Marlton was charged with 23 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, and an adult female from Maple Shade was charged with 23 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary. A 16-year-old male from Maple Shade was charged with 23 counts of burglary, 23 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and 16 counts of theft.
The charges against the adults are pending in the Burlington County Superior Court and the charges against the juvenile are pending in the Burlington County Juvenile Court.
On Aug. 17, Medford Township Police were dispatched to the Medford Medical
Building located on Old Marlton Pike at Jones Road. Police were advised that a message was left on an answering machine at one of the medical suites reference a possible bomb threat. Police determined a credible threat existed and evacuated the building. Medford Township Fire and EMS responded to the scene as well as specialized explosive Police K-9’s from Medford Twp. Police and the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department. An extensive search was conducted of the facility and no suspicious devices were located. During an investigation, the caller was identified, located and interviewed. The 56-year-old male suspect of the 100 block of Cookstown-Mt. Egypt Road in Wrightstown was arrested and charged with Terroristic Threats. He was lodged at the Burlington County Jail in lieu of
$5,000 cash bail. No injuries were reported. Employees and patients were allowed back onto the premises at about 11:15 a.m.
Medford Police, fire and EMS were dispatched to the area of rt. 70 Medford Leas Way for a report of an accident. The police investigation revealed the driver of a 2008 Honda CRV was stopped in traffic on westbound rt. 70 just east of Medford Leas Way. The driver of the 2000 BUICK was struck by the driver of the Honda CRV in the rear. The driver of the CRV was transported to Virtua in Voorhees due to neck and back pain, additionally they were issued a summons for careless driving.
