Fire damages interior of office building

A recent fire caused damage to an office building in town.

A portion of North Church Street was blocked off for about two hours Tuesday, Aug. 7. Moorestown Fire department received a phone call at 10:55 a.m. and responded to the smoky fire on North Church Street, between 2nd St. and West 3rd St.

Moorestown Fire Chief Anthony Green said they received a call that smoke was seeping out of a ceiling fan in one of the office suites. Patients were in the office at the time and all got out of the building safely, Green said.

Mount Laurel, Maple Shade, Lenola, Riverton, Willingboro and Delran fire departments also showed up at the scene within a matter of minutes.

Suite C and Suite A were both occupied at the time of the fire. Smoke formed in between the office ceiling and the roof, said Green. There was extensive damage to Suite A, while the other two suites had just smoke damage.

“The accidental fire is believed to be caused by a ceiling fan in Suite C,” Fire Inspector Robert Worrell said.

The building’s owner Dr. Adithya Reddy appeared at the scene about 30 minutes after the fire departments arrived. By that time, the smoke settled, and he was searching for the fire inspector.

“Nobody was hurt that’s the most important thing,” said Reddy.
