Medford Kumon Math and Reading Center will be hosting a spelling bee on Tuesday, July 17, at 7 p.m., at 128 Route 70, suite 4, Medford, next to Tarantella’s. The competition is open to all ages of the public and prizes and refreshments will be served. Call (609) 953–1193 or stop by to register.
Spelling competitions create an awareness of the necessity to spell and pronounce words correctly; it also develops enthusiasm to learn new words. Our purpose is to help all children improve spelling, increase vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.
Participation in spelling bees also helps students hone organizational skills and focus as well as develop self confidence and poise — necessary skills for success in public speaking, performing arts and athletics.
Most importantly, spelling bees are great fun for students, educators, families and friends.
