On Saturday, June 23, at approximately 5 p.m. the Evesham Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 73 southbound in front of the Marlton Crossings Shopping Center.
This vehicle collision involved three vehicles, two of which collided head-on at a high rate of speed.
During the rescue efforts entrapped occupants were cut from the vehicles by the Evesham Fire Department. The coordinated rescue effort by the Evesham Police and Fire Departments resulted in all the occupants being removed from the vehicles and transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Andre Barnes, 61 and Kathleen Barnes, 57 both of Philadelphia, Pa., were airlifted to Cooper Hospital for treatment. Andre Barnes is in critical condition and Kathleen Barnes is in stable condition.
Tiffany Major,25, Tasha Major, 44 and a 7-year-old boy all from Sicklerville. Tiffany was airlifted to Cooper Hospital and is in critical condition. Tiffany was pregnant at the time of the crash and her injuries resulted in the death of her unborn child.
Tasha was transported to Virtua Hospital and is in stable condition. The 7-year-old boy was transported to Virtua Hospital and later transferred to Cooper Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the vehicle operated by Andre Barnes northbound on Route 73 crossed over the center median and struck the vehicle being operated by Tiffany Major on the southbound side of the roadway head-on.
The third vehicle involved in this crash struck the rear of Major’s vehicle after the initial crash. This vehicle suffered minor damage and the lone driver of this vehicle was uninjured.
This crash investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed as of this time.
The traffic on Route 73 was shut down for approximately two hours during this rescue effort and investigation.
