The luck of the Irish is smiling on this Moorestown musician

Ninety-eight-year-old Mary Pounds of Moorestown plays Irish songs at the County Office on Aging nutrition site at the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Moorestown today as Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien and County Office on Aging Director Jeanne Borkowski admire her abilities. Pounds has been playing piano for 90 years and began learning classic music and then transitioned into jazz.

She was the Bethel A.M.E. organist for 40 years. Pounds attends the nutrition site where seniors can receive a hot nutritious meal four days a week and often entertains by playing the piano. O’Brien oversees the programs and services provided by the Office on Aging and also serves as music director and organist at her church in Delran.
