Dr. George W. Hager, 94, of Cherry Hill, formerly of Haddonfield resident, died Feb. 28, 2012.
Hager, serving as a U.S. Army captain during World War II, received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He had a long and distinguished career as a psychiatrist with both Copper Medical Center and in private practice.
He served on the Haddonfield School Board for 15 years, was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, volunteered for Interfaith Caregivers and was the first recipient of its Volunteer of the Year Award.
He was the beloved husband of Ingrid (nee Olsen); loving father of George W., III, M.D. (Elaine) of Voorhees, and Bethanne H. Weibling (Dennis) of Bellevue, Wash. He was the grandfather of six and great grandfather of six.
