Sign up for the Citizens Cabinet
With two months in office under his belt, Mayor Chuck Cahn recently announced a new initiative to bring together members of the community in a different way.
Cahn said the input of Cherry Hill residents is crucial to promoting a better future for the community.
“I recognize that it is imperative to work with each other, not talk at each other. Additionally, I understand the need to be tough and fair and change things that don’t work,” Cahn said. “In order to make sure change happens, we need to seek areas of consensus and find common ground, where we can work together to be effective, efficient and compassionate at the same time.”
Cahn has laid the groundwork for a citizen’s cabinet, a volunteer-based board charged with working with the mayor and department heads to discuss and take action on challenges the township faces.
Cahn said he hopes members of the cabinet will be as diverse as the community itself, and hopes to draw interested residents who serve as neighborhood leaders, to civic-association members and community activists.
“I believe that by implementing this resident committee, we will improve communication allowing for swift action by residents and administration alike,” Cahn said. “The citizen’s cabinet is an additional forum for residents to voice opinions, concerns and suggestions. This is the chance to have your voice heard as we determine the future of our community.”
The deadline to apply to be a member of the cabinet is March 2. To do so, submit your resume or brief bio, as well as a letter identifying how you would like to contribute to the group, to [email protected].
“This forum will provide an opportunity for meaningful discussion, incorporating the collective knowledge of our neighbors to work with the administration as we identify, develop and implement plans to move Cherry Hill forward,” Cahn said.
