Voorhees Mayor encourages you to vote in the upcoming fire election
Mayor’s Message: Michael Mignogna
The Voorhees Fire District Election will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18. Any Voorheees resident who is a registered voter will have an opportunity to cast a ballot. Two seats on the five-member board of fire commissioners will be decided.
Fire commissioners are elected to three-year terms.
This year’s candidates are Thomas Hanney, Barbara Silary, Kurtis Stroemel and Vaughn Vandegrift.
The election will also give residents an opportunity to vote on the fire district budget. Last year, this budget comprised 4.4 percent of your tax bill.
The polls will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The three voting locations are Kresson Fire Station at 423 Cooper Road, Kirkwood Fire Station at 2002 South Burnt Mill Road and the Ashland Presbyterian Church at 33 East Evesham Road.
If you have questions about your voting location, call (856) 783–6630, ext. 0.
We are fortunate to have one of the finest fire departments in South Jersey. We also appreciate the efforts of 39 volunteer firefighters, who give their time to support the department.

On Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m., the Voorhees community will unite and rally at the Macy’s lobby of the Voorhees Town Center to launch the inaugural Relay for Life season.
This kickoff celebration is the first step in building momentum toward our Relay for Life event on June 8 and June 9 at the football stadium of Eastern Regional High School. It will be an overnight celebration where individuals and teams camp out, picnic, play games and take turns circling around the track “relay” style to raise funds to fight cancer. For more information, email Brian Mickle at [email protected] or visit Relay for Life of Voorhees website at www.relayforlife.org/voorheesnj.
