Cahn unveils his vision for Cherry Hill

Mayor’s Message: Chuck Cahn

As we begin the new year, a time of commitment to change, my resolution is to make government work as hard as you do, because it is the people of Cherry Hill who make this town so special. I take the responsibility of serving as your mayor very seriously — and your confidence in me is appreciated.

I have spoken many times about enhancing our communication between the township and residents. I recognize the important and evolving role social media can play in helping us expand our ability to inform our residents. With this in mind, my administration and staff have begun to review how we currently utilize technology and how we can further expand our operations.

These expanded communication efforts include preparations to launch a new interactive website. I sincerely encourage you to engage us in conversation — call the mayor’s office, send us an email, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter or even mail us a letter. I promise we will listen.

Visit our website at www.CherryHill-NJ.com and sign up to receive our email updates for the latest township news, traffic and construction alerts, public safety announcements, storm preparations, neighborhood updates and information on upcoming events and recreational activities.

My goal is to make sure residents and businesses alike are better connected and more informed about the work we are doing on their behalf, both in town hall and around the community.

In addition to informational alerts, we will also be establishing a citizen’s cabinet and small business council, to better engage our residents and business owners in the decisions that most directly affect them.

Look for more news on both these programs in the weeks to come. I anxiously await your participation and assistance in shaping the direction of our community as we move forward. After all, these programs are being created with the community in mind, and they will not be successful without that two-way interaction.

Cherry Hill is a quilt of neighborhoods; every patch is unique, but sewn together by our common thread of commitment to our community. It is the strength of that community which serves as the backbone for our town and will be the driving force as we move Cherry Hill into the future.

I am guided by the words of John F. Kennedy: “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”

I know we won’t miss the future because we will start each day, open to new ideas — to your ideas.

I can’t stress enough how important it is that we work together in the weeks and months ahead to cultivate this new, more interactive relationship.

Please connect with me directly by calling (856) 488–7878, or email me at [email protected].

I look forward to seeing you around town, meeting you at events and speaking with you regularly, in an effort to keep you informed of the progress we are making. If you see me, please be sure to stop, say hello and let me know how we are doing. I am excited to forge Cherry Hill’s future with you and I look forward to taking the journey together.
