Letter to the editor
Last year, I spent a great deal of time and energy supporting the Voorhees school budget. This year, I have doubts about supporting it. I have yet to see the school district make meaningful, sustained, inexpensive efforts to improve services to children and families.
For example, I still hear many complaints about special education IEPs and services, and have yet to see systematic efforts to educate parents about children’s needs and to involve parents and other residents in meaningful ways. I hope the district will prove me wrong.
I want to vote for the budget, but the district needs to give me good reasons, not just statistics about test scores that reflect the socioeconomic status of the students.
