Tabernacle church hosting wine festival

The Roman Catholic Church of Holy Eucharist Parish in Tabernacle will be hosting its 6th Annual Winter Wine Fest on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is the big event of the winter for the church.

“I think this was an idea that came from Father Andrew,” Gregory Schweitzer, wine festival committee member, said. “In the summer, we have the big Pine Barrens Festival, which is a week-long carnival event. The wine festival has a limited number of tickets, 350, and we sell out every year.”

Each year the event has restaurants and wine vendors that come and supply food and wine that is included in the ticket price.

“This event is growing every year,” Schweitzer said. “This year, we have more restaurants that will supply food. They come and set up tables and bring their specialties.”

Tickets cost $40 a person, which includes wine selections from around the world, food from 15 restaurants, specialty basket raffles valued at $500 each and door prizes. A super 50/50 raffle will also be held again — last year’s winner won more than $7,200. The grand door prize this year will be a five-day trip to Bermuda, and a live jazz quartet band will provide entertainment.

There are a limited number of tickets available, so get them early. They are available for purchase before and after Saturday and Sunday masses, as well as during daily hours at the church office.

For more information on the Winter Wine Fest or ticket purchase, call Holy Eucharist Office at 268–8383 or visit www.holyeucharist.org.
