Burlington County services for seniors
On Saturday, September 24, the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department will be holding a Senior Citizen Safety Event at the County Facilities, 49 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will include a new program for senior citizens called CarFit. It will be held in the main parking lot of the County Facilities.
CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. A proper fit in one’s car can greatly increase not only the driver’s safety but also the safety of others. Officers will assure that the mirrors and seats are adjusted properly for maximum safety while driving. They will also go over a 12-point safety checklist with the senior citizens
Information will also be available on free senior citizen programs, defensive driving classes and the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). CERT is the county’s citizen volunteer corps which is trained to assist first responders in times of emergency.
