Jane Harrison Colburn of Mount Laurel, formerly of Moorestown, died Aug. 27 at the Virtua Rehab Center in Lumberton. She was 84.
Colburn was born in Glen Ridge and was a graduate of Glen Ridge High School and Newark State Teacher’s College. She taught elementary school in the Caldwell and Barrington school systems. She stopped teaching in 1955 after helping her husband finish his residency in dermatology.
Colburn was an avid bridge player and played in many tournaments and was a member of the Settler’s Bridge Club. She was a member of the Burlington county Republican Committee from Moorestown and Mt. Laurel for 40 years and was an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention that nominated Gerald Ford.
Colburn was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown and a former member of the Moorestown Shade Tree Commission. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Harold Colburn, two children: Robert Colburn (Robin) of Mount Laurel and Suzanne Bartoli of Burlington, four grandchildren: Trevor and Kimberly Colburn, Jesse Atkins (Amy) and Christopher Bartoli and two great grandchildren, Owen and Colby Atkins. She is also survived by two sisters: Mary Beggs (Jim) of Bethesda, Md. and Patricia Millar (Eric) of Los Altos, Calif. and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown. Interment was in the church cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to either the church, at the above address or to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. PO Box 96011, Washington DC 20090–6011.
