The State’s Department of Community Affairs Local Finance Board approved an application on Aug. 18, allowing Cherry Hill and Merchantville to move forward in studying municipal consolidation.
Last month, two public hearings were held in Cherry Hill and one in Merchantville to discuss the potential process of merging.

At the meetings, members of the newly appointed Cherry Hill and Merchantville commissions were introduced and residents were given a chance to voice their opinions about a potential merger of the two entities.
