Matthew Clark Schopfer, a rising senior at Cherry Hill High School West, attended the United States Coast Guard Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) Summer Program in New London, Connecticut last month.
During the week, candidates were given the chance to experience life as a freshman during Swab Summer.
Schopfer had previously attended the United States Military Academy Summer Leaders Seminar at West Point, New York and the United States Air Force Academy Summer Seminar at Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy, one of the smallest of the five federal service academies, offers a prestigious higher education experience, with emphasis on leadership, physical fitness and professional development.
