Pedestrian suffers facial, pelvis and leg fractures after Cherry Hill traffic accident

The Cherry Hill Police Department is reporting another ugly motor vehicle accident in the township. At approximately 11:12 a.m. today, a vehicle travelling eastbound on Church Road struck 43-year-old Cherry Hill resident Alpa Patel while she was walking. Patel, who was transported to Cooper Trauma in critical but stable condition, sustained multiple facial fractures, and a fractured pelvis and legs.

According to reports, Patel remained atop the hood of the vehicle upon initial impact. She subsequently fell and became lodged beneath the front of the vehicle where she was dragged approximately 20 feet. Several witnesses helped remove Patel from under the front of the vehicle.

The operator of the vehicle, a 2009 Dodge Caliber, was identified as Angelo Rosa of Haddon Heights.

The crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Squad. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Officer James Philbin at (856) 432–8858.
