Residents will have a new opportunity to personally connect with their local government, through a new program announced yesterday by Mayor Bernie Platt.
One day a week through the rest of the summer, representatives from the mayor’s office will hold special office hours at public locations throughout Cherry Hill — starting with Short Hills Deli, 486 Evesham Rd., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, July 28.
Dubbed the “Mobile Mayor’s Office,” the program offers Cherry Hill residents an additional opportunity to discuss issues of importance to them. The hope is that by making staff available at locations across town, a greater number of residents will be able to connect with their local government, Platt said.
“Whether it’s just to say hello, ask a quick question, give us feedback or voice a complaint, people are in and out of my office at town hall every day,” Platt said. “That one-on-one interaction is one of the most important parts of my job as mayor, and these new, off-site hours are an extension of that. My hope is that we’ll be able to reach a greater number of people who live all over Cherry Hill.”
In addition to Thursday’s event at the Short Hills Deli, the following dates and times have been scheduled, with other dates to be added in the future:

“That direct access gives residents firsthand access to the answers they need and want, and it gives me as an elected official an opportunity to hear for myself what’s on taxpayers’ minds,” Platt noted. “These are conversations that result in real solutions for people, and in some cases, they can help shape policy that has wide-reaching effects for the entire community. That’s why our outreach is so important.”
