Don’t miss the tractor parade

The Burlington County Fairgrounds will officially open for business on Sunday, July 17, 2011 with a 50-tractor parade and ribbon cutting ceremony. Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio will lead the afternoon precession of tractors into the fairgrounds to open the area for business.

“We are very happy with the way the fairgrounds have turned out. Many people worked extremely hard to get this accomplished and ready for the opening of the 2011 Farm Fair,” said Bruce Garganio, Freeholder Director.

The Central Jersey Tractor Pullers Association is sponsoring the event and has recruited all of the tractors and drives. The tractors will meet at the Burlington County Fairgrounds at 10 AM on Sunday, July 17th to begin their approximately 25 mile tour. They will travel to the old Farm Fair site in Lumberton and then parade back to the County Fairgrounds. They should arrive between 1:30 and 2 pm for the ceremony.

Their route will lead from the Fairground down Jacksonville-Jobstown Road to Smithville Road. From Smithville, they will turn right onto Newbolds Corner Road and then to Main Street and the old Lumberton site of the Farm Fair. The drivers will take a short break and then travel back they way they came, diverting from their original route, turning right at Woodlane/ North Pemberton Road (County Route 630). The parade will take them down Arneys Mount Road, turning left at County Route 537 and then a right turn onto on Warner Road. From Warner Road, the parade will head back to the County Fairgrounds.

Anyone interested in participating will have to show proof of insurance or join the Tractor Pullers Association for $30. For more information, please contact Paul Shinn, Central Jersey Tractor Pullers Association President, at (609) 410–2667.
