Hold on a second…those weren’t maintenance men

It wasn’t a happy Fourth of July for two would be burglars in the township. Lieutenant Walt Miller of the Evesham Township Police Department reported that the department arrested two suspects on July 4 around noon after an officer of the Voorhees Township Police Department stopped their vehicle after an APB was issued.

About 30 minutes previous to their motor vehicle stop, the two suspects had been posing as maintenance men at the Sanctuary community in the township. A resident called police after the two suspects knocked on his door several times and then said they were maintenance men with the wrong address after he answered the door.

Officers arrived on the scene and were alerted to a burglary alarm at a nearby home. They found that a window had been broken, but the suspects were no longer at the scene. After radioing their descriptions to several police departments in the area, the Voorhees officer stopped the duo.

A 43-year-old male suspect of Sicklerville and a 40-year-old male suspect of Waterford were charged with attempted burglary. The duo were found to be in possession of an illegal firearm and were both felons, so they were also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

They were remanded to the Burlington County Jail with a $25,000 bail set for both.
