Welcome the newest and furriest member of the force

The Evesham Police Department welcomed its newest member to the police K9 unit. Officer Daniel Burdette and his K9 partner Ciko recently graduated from the Atlantic County K9 Academy.

Ciko is a police patrol dog that is trained in tracking and apprehension. Ciko can track for missing people and suspects. Ciko’s training is ongoing and he will be crossed trained in narcotics detection by the years end.

Ciko joins the police department’s K9 unit that currently has four other K9 handlers and their K9 partners, representatives reported. Ciko will replaced an aging K9 that is scheduled to retire at the end of the year, which will return our K9 staffing to four fully cross trained patrol and narcotics dogs.

Since Ciko’s graduation he has been deployed in the field and during a recent track of a robbery suspect he located evidence during the track, including a weapon, that will be critical evidence in the identification of the suspect responsible for this crime.
