The Cherokee High School varsity tennis team defeated Millville High School 5–0 Thursday afternoon in the first round of the Olympic Conference playoffs.
David Blystone of Cherokee defeated Shamell Martin, 6–0, 6–2 and Ben Bertino of Cherokee defeated Jason Riggins, 6–0, 6–0. Finally, Armando Fraile defeated Trevor Justis, 6–4, 6–4.
In doubles action Josh Rodriguez and Mory Katan of Cherokee defeated Tim Durham and Brandon Green, 6–3, 3–6, 6–1. Vinesh Kanthan and Michael Seligman of Cherokee defeated Tyler Smith and Darren Stochmal, 6–0, 6–0.
The fifth seeded Cherokee Chiefs will face off against fourth seeded conference rival Lenape High School on Tuesday, May 17 at 3:45 p.m.
