Mayor Bernie Platt honored dozens of students and their teachers at last night’s Cherry Hill council meeting.
Platt awarded a proclamation to Rosa Middle School’s Christy Marella-Davis for being named National History Day Teacher of the Year.
The Rosa National History Day participants competed at the state level on May 7. Rosa swept the Junior group documentary competition. Eric Grayson, Michael Zilberfarb, Jonathan Pezzner and Zach McKenna advanced to Nationals and also won the best American Revolutionary Junior Entry. Lewis Cohen, Max DuBoff and Cullin Poresky also advanced to Nationals and Alec Silverstone, Noah Ritz, Sam Kaufman and Phil Chehet are Nationals alternates.
Platt also honored the Cherry Hill East science team and teacher Bethany Lau. Platt said 13 of the 22 students who participated in the science day placed first in their category, with eight students advancing to regional completion.
Members of council echoed the mayor’s sentiments by congratulating students, teachers and parents for their hard work.
