Out with the old (if it were a contested race)

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

There were no write-in miracles, so the Haddonfield Board of Education will look very much the same in 2011–2012 as it did this previous year. BOE members Dennis Kelleher, Drew Hansen — who was not in attendance at the meeting — Heather Paoli, and Glenn Moramarco were sworn into their seats at the annual reorganization meeting.

Paoli, Hansen, and Moramarco will serve in three, three-year seats on the BOE with Kelleher serving in the remaining one-year seat.

Hansen received the most votes during the school board elections on April 27. He led the way with 1,045, followed by Paoli with 1,041, Moramarco with 1,039, and Kelleher with 1,034.

These totals are unofficial, but do contain mail in and provisional ballot results, Business Administrator Andy Hall reported.

The BOE also nominated and elected Steve Weinstein as president of the board for another year.

The only change the board will have for the following year is a newly elected vice president. BOE member Cheryl Laney had served as the vice-president for the past six months, but decided to withdraw her name for contention for the following year.

The BOE unanimously elected Moramarco to the position.

“I think its time to put some of the leadership roles of the board onto a new generation. I believe Glenn will do a great job,” she said.
