They came, they saw, they created (their own stories)

The Voorhees branch of the Camden County Library System offered a unique, four hour, two session program called “Create Your Own Story @ Your Library” as part of its observance of National Library Week earlier in the month.

Participants were invited to tell their story through two creative media. In the morning session collage artist Ginny Conover guided those signed up in creating a personal collage. Participants were encouraged to bring photocopies of important personal photos and other two-dimensional objects of personal significance.

In the afternoon, creative writing coach Keith Forrest helped participants to explore their stories via the written word. The program concluded with a thoughtful discussion of how an individual’s collage and writing related to one another. Participants took home two very special expressions of their own stories, representatives reported.
