Eastern Regional High School has talent

Forget about American Idol, maybe Fox should just come to Eastern Regional High School to find the next best singer in the country.

Eight students from Eastern Regional High Schools were accepted into the All-State Mixed Chorus, a select group of the best student singers in the state. More than 1,000 students auditioned in April, and 360 were accepted into the mixed chorus, according to the high school representatives.

Eastern’s All-State Chorus members for 2011 are:

Sarah Cheatham (grade 11) — Soprano II

Emily Gaffney (grade 11) — Soprano I

Rachel Horner (grade 10) — Alto I

Madison Kaigh (grade 10) — Soprano II

Megan Kalberer (grade 10) — Alto I

Joseph Kuperschmidt (grade 10) — Bass I

Bhavish Malkani (grade 10) — Bass I

Arjun Shankar (grade 10) — Tenor II

The All-State Mixed Chorus will perform twice in November, first at the New Jersey Educators Association convention in Atlantic City and again at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Eastern’s choir program is under the direction of Katherine Akinskas.
