The Medford Township Department of Recreation is pleased to offer a golf instruction workshop for children between the ages of 7 and 15 years old.
The Sticks for Kids program provides youth the opportunity to learn about such golf fundamentals as stance, gripping, pitching, chipping, putting and swinging from a local golf professional. Children will have the chance to test out the putting and chipping greens, as well as the driving area. Participants also will learn golf safety, etiquette and discipline. Clubs are provided free of charge for participants to use at all lessons.
Medford Recreation was selected to participate in the Sticks for Kids program which was developed through collaboration between the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
As a participant in the program, Medford Recreation received 10 sets of junior golf clubs provided by US Kids Golf, and program materials provided by NRPA to use in programming that affords youth the opportunity to experience golf.
Three, two-week sessions of the Sticks for Kids program are being offered between April 26 and June 2, 2011. The cost to register for a session is $50 for residents of Medford and $70 for non-residents.
All lessons take place at Golden Pheasant Golf Club, located at 141 Country Club Drive in Lumberton (off of Eayerstown Road) and are taught by Jim Bergen, senior golf professional.
