Duo arrested for burglary

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

While not the pair that has been responsible for the majority of break ins and burglaries in Haddonfield as of the past few months, the Haddonfield Police Department pressed charges late yesterday night against two residents out of Camden for their role in a burglary of a home on Grove Street two weeks ago.

Detective Sgt. Mark Knoedler said a male and female suspect — both 35-years-of-age and out of Camden — were picked up last week in Camden by officers out of Collingswood, Cherry Hill, and Haddon Township police departments.

It’s believed, he said, that the pair have been responsible for a number of burglaries in Camden, Haddonfield, Cherry Hill, Collingswood, and Haddon Township. When arrested, the pair were found to have stolen goods on their person, Knoedler said.

They were held in the Cherry Hill police department for the past week, being interrogated by the department. Through the interrogation they admitted to robbing a home in Haddonfield on Feb. 18 on Grove Street.

Knoedler said the pair would knock on the door of homes they had previously staked out when they believed nobody was home. If nobody came to the door, the male suspect would usually try to enter the house through the rear.

The male suspect was charged with burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. The female suspect was only charged with conspiracy for burglary, Knoedler said, as it was expected she did not enter any of the homes herself.

The pair were remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
