Cherokee girls win again by same score

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

It seems that if the Cherokee girls varsity basketball team can score 37 points in this NJSIAA tournament, they are assured a victory. Last night the girls beat divisional rival Lenape High School by a score of 37–30, the exact same score they had beaten their previous opponent Shawnee High School.

The fourth seeded Cherokee High School squad, 17–7, triumphed over Lenape, 20–8–1, avenging an earlier season loss to the high school on Jan. 18. Cherokee lost to Lenape that day by a score of 34–28.

The win sets up a rematch with the number one seeded Cherry Hill High School East squad tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the Cherry Hill East gym. This will be the semifinal round of the NJSIAA Tournament.

Earlier in the season Cherry Hill East handed Cherokee one of their most lopsided losses of the season, losing by 23 points with a score of 62–39.
