The Medford Lakes Country Club was alive with more than 100 parents, grandparents and their children, eating hot dogs, hamburgers and other ball field treats as they played and danced with the Phillie Phanatic and had their pictures taken.
The Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club’s recent “First Pitch of the Phillies Season” celebration, where the Phillie Phanatic made an appearance. The Rotary Club also hosted a kid-friendly night for special needs kids and for the children of Rotary members.
The Rotary Club received many thanks from the parents and grandparents of the kids who came to the celebration for hosting a great event.
The event was the idea of Rotarian Mike Pagnotta, who made arrangements for the Phillie Phanatic and two ball girls from the Phillies baseball team to come to the event.
As part of the night, a drawing was held for two tickets to a Phillies ball game and a gift basket was raffled off that contained a number of treats and Phillies items.
Proceeds from the two raffles were donated to Medford’s Special Olympic Gymnastics team to help them buy new uniforms.
At the end of the celebration, Rotary Club President John Furgione installed the Phanatic as an honorary Rotarian.
