BOE approves resolution for possible outsourcing

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

In front of a crowded audience last week, the members of the Evesham K-8 Board of Education approved a resolution to possibly outsource several positions throughout the district if the price is right.

While nothing is official, the RFP will put out an advertisement for bids for several positions.

The BOE members approved a resolution to authorize the district business administrator to advertise and accept bids for the grounds maintenance and snow removal employees, food service management company — for the privatization of cafeteria workers — and payroll and time reporting services.

It has not been decided yet if the board will actually privatize these services.

The district of course faces several challenges in the budget process this year, but received some good news last week when the state announced it would receive an increase of $718,000 in state aid.

The board will continue to discuss the 2011–2012 budget this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the DeMasi Middle School cafeteria. The board will likely pass the preliminary budget at this meeting, as all budgets are due to county superintendents throughout the state by March 4.

The BOE elections will be held on Wednesday, April 27. Three seats on the BOE are expiring this year.

Please visit the district’s Web site www.evesham.k12.nj.us for more information on the budget and upcoming meetings.
