Two police officers who were laid off in June were sworn back into the Cherry Hill Police Department yesterday. The officers were among six who lost their jobs in the summer when Cherry Hill announced it would have to cut several police officers from the force.

Richard Nelms and Edwin Steinach were originally brought into the force in a class of officers in 2008, Chief of Staff Dan Keashen said.

The township was able to re-hire the two officers after several other policemen retired from the force and other changes were made to reduce costs in the police department, Keashen said.
