While summer reading may provide food for thought, the Camden County Library System is hoping to provide some food for the stomach too as it continues a food drive that coincides with it’s summer reading programs for children, teens and adults.
Food collection bins are available until Saturday, Aug. 7 at each of the system’s six branches, including Voorhees.
“We thought it would be good to associate the food drive with summer reading because so many kids and family come into our branches to participate in program events,” said Youth Services Manager Jennifer Druce.
The library is collecting non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, jelly, pasta products and canned food including vegetables and fruits. All food collected will be donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey. Slack times between holidays are when food supplies become depleted and most scarce.
