Borough Commissioners amended several sections of the borough’s affordable housing plan to receive approval for the third round from the Council on Affordable Housing.

Borough Administrator Sharon McCullough said there were several amendments to the affordable housing plan. Any future redevelopment at the PATCO station, she said, must include 50 percent of the square footage to be used for residential use.

Of that residential square footage, 25 percent of the total units constructed must be used for affordable housing uses. Parking garage square footage shall not be included in the total square footage, according to the amendment.

Several other amendments ensure that units labeled for affordable housing units in the borough are used for affordable housing purposes, McCullough said.

The amendments were approved unanimously by commissioners.

In other borough news:

• Bids have been sent out for the construction work on Woodland Avenue and Centre Street, the two roadways that will make up the work for the annual borough $1 million roadway reconstruction program.

Several audience members at the meeting voiced their approval of the borough finally going out for bids for the reconstruction of Woodland Avenue. One resident even brought in a bag of asphalt that he claimed was from the numerous potholes that litter the roadway.

Woodland will have four blocks — and possibly all five blocks — reconstructed and repaved. Centre Street will go from Lincoln to Reillywood Avenue. Both roads should see construction start at the beginning of August if everything goes right, McCullough said.

• Commissioners approved a construction company for the refurbishment and reconstruction of the Haddonfield Public Library’s roof. Tortorice Construction submitted the lowest bid for the construction project, at $34,376. Alper Enterprises was the only other company to submit a bid, and quoted a price of $43,800. It’s not a complete roof reconstruction, but just the replacement of several drains and a few sections of the roof, Mayor Tish Colombi said. There have been drainage problems at the library for many years, Colombi said, and hopefully this construction project will help improve the situation.

• The borough received its yearly audit report from the state and reported that no suggestions, deficiencies, or corrections were levied against the borough’s book, accounts, or financial transactions.

It was the first time in years that the borough received its annual audit report and didn’t have any deficiencies or corrections to identify, officials said.
