It’s been a year since state and local officials kicked off a $31 million project to eliminate the Marlton Circle at the intersection of Route 70 and 73 and replace it with an overpass. So far, the project is on time and on budget, officials said.
As the project heads toward its winter 2011 end date, state Department of Transportation officials said costs remain within the expected budget.
Tim Greeley, a spokesperson for NJDOT, said the department has spent about $15 million in construction costs as the project approaches a 50 percent completion mark for all construction activities.
Despite a slight delay in activity that was caused by severe snowstorms this winter, officials said the project remains on schedule.
“The contractor will make that time up this spring, working extended hours,” Greeley said. “We are confident that the project will reach completion without delay.”
Traffic information will continue to be provided through variable message signs located around the construction site as well as on NJDOT’s NJ511 Travel Information Web site, www.nj511.info.
Commuters can also access the NJ511 phone system for traffic information by dialing 5–1–1 or 1(866) 511-NJDT (6538).
