When faced with deciding on a project to do to obtain his Eagle Scout rank, Nick Carbonara didn’t have to look very far.
“I think part of being a Boy Scout is to help your community and help people around you,” said Nick, a junior at Cherokee. “So I thought a great project would be to help the homeless people in our area because they could always use some help.”
Nick is working on filling shoeboxes with personal care items donated from local businesses and the community.
Nick is working with the Interfaith Homeless Outreach Council in order to get the shoeboxes distributed to various shelters, once he assembles the boxes.
Once the personal care boxes are assembled, he will give them to the organization for distribution at shelters in Marlton and in neighboring communities.
Residents who would like to make donations for Nick’s project can bring personal care items and shoe boxes to any of three drop-boxes he has set up at local fire stations until April 15.
Drop boxes are located at the Kettle Run Firehouse on Hopewell Road, the Kings Grant Fire Station and The Main Street Fire station.
