Residents are reminded that the annual fire district elections will be held Feb. 20, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at three polling places throughout the township.
The proposed fire district budget features no increase in the tax rate if approved by voters. Fire Commissioner Bob Dougherty described the budget as “fiscally responsible” and urged residents to vote in favor of the plan. The budget, he said, maintains crucial services that the township has come to expect with no tax increase for its residents.
Voters will also decide the best candidate for the one vacant three-year seat on the Voorhees Fire Commission. Incumbent Candidate Elizabeth McAvoy — a 15-year member of the commission — and candidate Carmen Console — served on the commission from 2006 to 2008 — will vie for the open seat.
Voting locations are at Voorhees Fire Stations 2 and 3, plus the Ashland Presbyterian Church.
For additional information and addresses of the polling locations, please visit the district’s Web site at voorheesfire.org. If interested in volunteering for the district, please call Fire Chief Jim Pacifico at 783–6630 or stop by either fire station on Monday evenings at 7 p.m.
