Camden County Library System will observe Black History Month with a special event at the Voorhees branch.
On Saturday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., the Voorhees Branch will offer a family program, “Sweet Music in Harlem.” Participants will have the chance to celebrate Black History Month by listening to jazz and creating a musical instrument of their own.

Middle school
transition planning
Dr. Christine Harrington will present a comprehensive model of effective transition planning that can be implemented in the school setting with emphasis on starting this process in the middle school, on Feb. 18, from 6:45 to 9 p.m. at the Voorhees Middle School Lecture Hall, 1000 Holly Oak Road.
Christine Harrington, PhD, is a licensed psychologist who has extensive counseling experience with students who have disabilities and their family members. Her areas of expertise are learning and psychiatric disabilities and she is passionate about fostering resilience and positive mindsets.
The program is sponsored by the Voorhees Special Services Department in conjunction with the Voorhees Special Education Parent Advisory Council.

Virtua offering
H1N1 vaccinations
The H1N1 vaccination is still a good idea and you can get it now without long lines and restrictions. It is still important to be vaccinated because H1N1 could surge in February and March, which is when flu cases in the U.S. reach their peak.
Virtua will offer another in a series of free H1N1 vaccination clinics on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Barry D. Brown Health & Education Center on the Virtua Voorhees Campus. This clinic can handle 1,500 registrations and more clinics will follow in the near future.
Registration is required. Please call the Virtua Flu Hotline at 1–888-VIRTUA7 (888–847–8827) by 8 p.m. on Feb. 26 to register. You will receive details about consent forms and a time for your vaccination.

Dr. Karen Scardigli, Neurologist, and Lynne Smith, seventh-grade VMS Guidance Counselor, will discuss Bullying Essentials and the Role of the CEO, the Brain, Feb. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Voorhees Middle School Lecture Hall, 1000 Holly Oak Drive.
