More than 200 visitors attended the second annual Crossing the River for a Cause last week, and, for the second year in a row, county residents helped raise thousands of dollars for the underprivileged of Camden.
The event raised more than $45,000 for Guadalupe Family Services, a charitable organization that provides support to North Camden children. The event provides critically needed financial support for the wide range of activities that GFS delivers to Camden and its surrounding areas.
The Keystone State Boychoir performed for the second year in a row. The event featured guests from the Camden County Prosecutors Office and several local social service groups from the county.
Sponsors provided the necessary funding for the event, including food, the venue and all of the raffle prizes. The event was held in Philadelphia at the Residences of Dockside.
Lynne Ebling and her husband Clayton, borough residents, both attended the fund raiser for the first time this year. GFS is an easy charity to support, she said, and one that makes a big difference within Camden County.
“I thought it was a great service. I always like to support services in the community in and around Haddonfield and Camden County. Obviously, being involved with a nursery school like I am, anything that has to do with helping kids tugs at my heartstrings,” she said. “It was just a great event. The venue was fantastic and the boys choir was great.”
