Clean out your garages, basements and sheds and donate your gently used bikes(for both children and adults) to “Bikes for the World”. Along with your bike, kindly bring a $10 donation (used to offset repair and shipping costs). This donation event will occur during Bret Harte Field of Dreams Family Day at Bret Harte Elementary School, 1909 Queen Anne Drive, on May 16 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Bikes for the World ( www.bikesfortheworld.org) is a sponsored project of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association whose mission is to collect valuable, but unwanted bicycles and related material — parts, tools, and accessories — in the United States and deliver it at low cost to community development programs assisting the poor in developing countries. The bikes donated to our partner organizations provide much-needed and affordable transportation to laborers, micro businesspeople, farmers, health workers, and students.
