Council continued the township’s drive to go green, approving a resolution to participate in the Sustainable Jersey Municipal Certification Program.
The certification program, according to the Sustainable Jersey Web site, is for municipalities in the state that are looking to go green, control costs and improve the quality of life for its residents over the long term.
Municipalities must be inspected by members of the program and given certification to be listed as a Sustainable Jersey municipality.
If certified as a Sustainable Jersey municipality, Cherry Hill would qualify for special grants and funding that aren’t available to non-certified municipalities.
Sustainable Cherry Hill and Jennifer Kelley, the township’s liaison to the program, will assist the township in obtaining its certification.
