MFS students capture Deborah Heart Challenge Awards

Moorestown Friends School students captured awards in the 2009 Deborah Heart Challenge and Art Competition. Moorestown Friends School participated in the challenge and came home with three awards in the art competition. In the two-dimensional category, senior Stephen Shilling (Medford) won second place for his work entitled “Heartbroken from a Heart Attack,” while sophomore Alexandra Hovatter (Moorestown) received honorable mention for her drawing “What the Heart Wants.” In the 3-D category sophomore Ailsa Stevenson (Mount Laurel) picked up an honorable mention award for her work “The Beating Heart.”

MFS Upper School art teacher Nicole Edmund coordinated all of the student entries.

The art competition is part of the Deborah Heart Challenge, which is co-sponsored by the Deborah Heart and Lung Center and Pemberton Township. It was started 11 years ago in celebration of National Heart Month.
