Mayor’s Column-Road Improvements

Voorhees Township works hard to maintain and improve our 105 miles of local roads for the
safety and convenience of our community. We also have 18 miles of county roads maintained by Camden County. Route 73 has 2.5 miles in Voorhees and is a state road.
We have a five-year road program to maintain all township roads.

The following road improvements were completed in 2023:
Laurel Oak Road, Phase I (White Horse Road to Flyers Skate Zone), Peregrine Drive – Phase III at its two intersections with Willowbrook Way, 2nd Avenue, Old Stevens Lane, Hazel Avenue, Oriole Drive, Jefferson Avenue (561 to Third Avenue), Peacock Lane, Warren Avenue (Somerdale Road to Lennox Avenue), Dale Drive (Evesham Road to #3 Dale Drive), Echelon Road (Somerdale Road to Van Buren Road, paved by SJ Gas), Laurel Road (Britton Place to Echelon Road, Half width paved by SJ Gas), Round Hill Road (Blue Ridge Road to Saddle Ridge Road, paved by SJ Gas), Saddle Ridge Road (Paved by SJ Gas), Camden Avenue (Somerdale Road to Dead End, Paved by NJAWC), Lennox Avenue (Half width paved by NJAWC), Warren Avenue (Evesham Road to Lennox Avenue, half width paved by NJAWC), Middlesex Avenue (Somerdale Avenue to Hudson Avenue, paved by NJAWC), Mercer Avenue (Camden Avenue to 561, Half width paved by NJAWC), Essex Avenue (Middlesex Avenue to 561, Half width paved by NJAWC), Hudson Avenue (Middlesex Avenue to 561, Half width paved by NJAWC), Somerset Avenue (561 to Dead End, Half width paved by NJAWC), Ford Street (Salem Avenue to Dead End, Half width paved by NJAWC).

Improvements to the following roads will be made in 2024.


Laurel Oak Road – Phase II (Flyers Skate Zone to Haddonfield-Berlin Road (CR 561),
Chippenham Drive – Phase II (Woodhurst Drive to Bradford Way), Brambling Lane, Covington Lane- Phase I (Kresson Road to Elliot Drive), Lennox Avenue (1/2 Width Paving), Ford Stree (1/2 Width Paving, Other Half Paved by NJ American Water Co), Linden Avenue (Front Street to Dead End), Chestnut Avenue (South Second Street to Burnt Mill Road), Walnut Avenue (Gibbsboro Road to Burnt Mill Road), Second Street, Sequoia Court, Heron Court, Bittern Court, Flamingo Court, South Terrace Boulevard (at intersection with Rt. 73), Battery Hill Drive – Phase II (William Feather Drive to Egret Road), Henley Lane.

The Camden County Board of Elections needs poll workers for the upcoming elections. This
year the Board of Elections is hiring employees 16 and over.
$300 for the day from 5am – 9pm

The Voorhees Township 2024 Summer Concert continues with the second show on

Thursday, July 18, featuring Parrot Beach – Jimmy Buffet Tribute. On Thursday, Aug. 15,
The Beat Tells will greet the audience with their traditional Tribute to the Beatles. All shows
start at 7:30pm. The shows will be even more enjoyable with Dooney’s Pub’s Beer Garden

The Animal Welfare Association is hosting Family Fun Night on July 13 from 4pm-7pm.

Voorhees Township is once again partnering with Morey’s Piers to offer discounted tickets for their amusement piers located on the Boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. Tickets may be obtained in person from the office of the Voorhees Township Clerk (856) 429-7757 and are payable by cash only. Tickets are available to residents and non-residents.
