Local teacher named “Unsung Hero” by Saint Michael’s College student

Laura Schwartz of Haddonfield Memorial High School named an “Unsung Hero” teacher by Saint Michael’s College student.

Saint Michael’s College student Rachael Prescott, a first-year media studies and digital arts major who is the daughter of Lou Ann Prescott of Blackwood has nominated Laura Schwartz of Haddonfield Memorial High School as an “Unsung Hero” for being an inspirational teacher.

In honor of “National Teacher Appreciation Week” May 8 through May 12, the admissions office at Saint Michael’s College asked first-year students to
share about heroic teachers from their high school — the teachers who
truly made a difference in their lives and inspired them to pursue higher
education. Students responded immediately with heartfelt words of praise
for the teachers who had meant so much to them.

This year Saint Michael’s announced 57 “Unsung Heroes” from 54 schools in 10 states across 2 nations, recognized and nominated because of their passion for teaching, ability to go above the call of duty and taking time to
connect with students.

National Teacher Appreciation Week is a designated week to recognize and
honor the important work and support teachers provide for students and
communities.
